How to download Facebook Reels and videos
RamRom blog · 23 October 2026
Facebook buries its download options. Reels and videos you can watch in the app cannot always be saved from it — and the "Save video" button Facebook does offer only bookmarks the post inside Facebook; it does not put a file on your phone. If you want the actual video file, here is the simple route.
First, get the link
- In the app: open the Reel or video, tap Share, then Copy link.
- On a computer: open the video and copy the address from your browser's address bar.
Then download it
- Paste the link into RamRom and tap Download.
- Pick a quality. Video HD is the sharpest version — best for big screens and keeping your own uploads. Video SD is a smaller file that downloads faster on slow connections.
- Tap Download. The file saves to your device like any normal download.
What does not work — and why
- Private and friends-only videos. If a video is not public, no downloader can fetch it. That is a privacy protection, and it is a good one.
- Deleted posts. Once a video is gone from Facebook, it is gone everywhere.
- Live videos still streaming. Wait until the broadcast ends and the recording is posted.
Backing up your own Facebook videos
If you post Reels for a page or business, keep local copies. Pages get restricted, accounts get locked, and re-uploading from a crisp HD file beats re-downloading a compressed copy later. Two minutes per video, and your work is safe whatever happens to the account.
And the usual courtesy: download other people's videos only for personal viewing, with their rights in mind — never re-upload someone else's work as your own.
